Short Term and Medium Term Accommodation

When a person and their carers need a break, or someone is waiting for their chosen long term housing option to be ready they may need short term or temporary housing solutions.

Short Term Accommodation or STA is funding for short periods of time (usually up to 14 days in any one stay).

Medium term Accommodation or MTA offers a transitional solution with a longer-term stay (usually up to 90 days) while you wait for your permanent housing to be finalised.

Short Term Accommodation / Respite

Short Term Accommodation, including respite, is support for when you need to live out of home for a short period. It is designed to give both you and your informal support a well-earned break. Your carers may like to take a short break to just catch up on everyday activities, attend an event or to go on a short a holiday.

In Home Respite

We can provide supports in your own home while your informal supports attend an event or take a short holiday. In-Home respite can be provided for just a few hours or a few days. You might want someone to accompany you to a family event but then support you to leave when you have had enough.

Medium Term Accommodation

Medium term accommodation (MTA) is funding for somewhere for you to live temporarily if you can’t move into your long-term home because your disability supports aren’t ready. MTA funds accommodation costs only, you still need to pay for other things like food, phone, internet, and other bills. MTA might be used as an in-between solution if you have been in hospital or rehab and need some extra care before returning home.
